MALE PROSTATE SELF-EXPLORATION

Prostate Self-Exploration is a maneuver that should be performed regularly by male patients ("self") specially above 40 years old and is used world-wide for early detection and prevention of Prostate Cancer.

Procedure:

With a clean right or left hand and very short nails, use a lubricant to avoid pain (jellies or baby oil) and insert your middle finger approximately <3 cms. (<1 inch) inside the annus. Located at 12 o'clock, as shown in the picture below, you should be able to touch your prostate. Get acquainted with it and perform the self-exploration once a month.

Take note of any change in hardness, texture and approximate size for future monitoring. Any changes should be referred to your doctor.
